Why we built Flare
Endless feeds engineered to keep you scrolling. AI sludge filling the gaps between ads. Your data sold to the highest bidder. We're done with it — and we built Flare to be the opposite.
Flare is built for people, not engagement metrics. For real social connection. Completely free.
Flare keeps the whole flow lightweight: pick the plan, choose the people, and let everyone see the details without digging through messages.
Create a plan with a name, place, time, photo, and RSVP cap in seconds. Pick from 8 activity types.
Send to close friends, custom groups, or make it public for nearby people. You stay in control of the guest list.
Browse a live map of public flares. Filter by activity, distance, and time to find what's happening around you.
Track RSVPs in real time, see who's coming, and read comments — all in one place with no spammy notifications.
Tag every flare with an activity so the right people see it — and so the map stays scannable.
No threads to start, no votes to herd. Flare collapses the loop between "we should hang out" and "we're hanging out."
Drop a flare with a place, a time, and an activity. Add a photo or an RSVP cap if you want.
Send to friends, a group you've made, or make it public for friends-of-friends and nearby users.
Watch RSVPs roll in, chat in the flare's comments, and meet up. Plans auto-expire two hours after start.
The map is the heart of Flare. Color-coded pins, distance sorting, and one-tap filters make it dead simple to find what's worth showing up for.
Organize people into color-coded groups with custom emojis. Comment on flares in real time with photos, so you don't need a separate thread to coordinate.
Flare is built on a strict, privacy-first foundation. We hold the absolute minimum we need to make plans happen.
We use your location to show nearby flares, but it's never stored on our servers.
Flares auto-expire two hours after they start, and data is removed after 30 days.
Blocking removes someone everywhere. Deleting your account wipes your data across thirteen systems.
The quick stuff people usually want to know before downloading.
Flare is an iOS app for making spontaneous, real-life plans. Drop a flare with a place, time, and activity; invite friends or open it up to nearby people; track RSVPs and chat about the meetup — all without starting a new group chat.
Yes. Flare is free to download and use on iOS 17 and up.
Flare is currently available on the App Store in the United States and Canada.
No. Your location is used on your device to surface nearby flares — it's never uploaded or stored. The location of a flare you create is only visible to people you invite (or, for public flares, people nearby).
You'll be sent to the App Store to download Flare. After you install and sign in, tap the same invite link again and we'll add the friend.
Tap their profile and block them — they disappear from your map, friends list, comments, and search. We also moderate content automatically and review every report.
Download Flare on the App Store. Stop scrolling. Start meeting up.
